Fred Persky was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived in Long Island before moving to NJ and raising his family in Monroe Township. After the death of his wife, Roberta, he was a single parent raising two young boys. He was very engaged in his children's lives and played an active role in coaching their sports, encouraging them from the sidelines and participating in school activities. He was often the only dad chaperoning their field trips or school events.

Fred was one of the founders of the Monroe Township Soccer Club. He was an active member of Temple Beth Ohr in Old Bridge and combined his passion of cooking and Chinese food by teaching a cooking class on Kosher Chinese food at the Temple. He later moved to Bridgewater, NJ where he was an active member of Temple Sholom and could be seen participating in Men's Club, volunteering at Religious School or participating in classes.

Fred was an engineer by training and began his career at Bendix Corporation before moving to NY Telephone and then AT&T.

Fred was passionate about his family and loved hosting family dinners. He enjoyed food and cooking and passed this skill onto his children.

Fred was predeceased by his wife, Roberta, and brother-in-law, Arvin Smith. He is survived by his children Stuart (Lisa) Persky and Adam (Kathryn Fuller) Persky; grandchildren Aaron, Alexander and Katelyn; his sister Iris Smith; brother-in-law Stephen Shifrinson; and beloved nephews and nieces Greg (Courtney) Smith, David (Claire) Smith, Josh (Carrie Ritter) Shifrinson, Zachary (Monika Radkowski) Shifrinson and their children.

Funeral services will be 11am Thursday at Temple Sholom in Bridgewater. Interment will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge.

Donations can be made to Rabbi Selsberg's Discretionary Fund at Temple Sholom in Bridgewater, NJ, https://templesholomnj.org/give, or The Preschool Place & Kindergarten in Bridgewater, NJ, https://preschoolplace.com/donate/,
