Lee Allen Persky, age 89, of Bellville, TX passed away Friday, November 1, 2024 in Bryan, TX.
Born June 27, 1935 on the W. E. Schwecke farm in New Ulm, Lee Allen was the son of Monroe Persky and Hilma (Glaeser) Persky. He attended the New Ulm School and graduated from Columbus High School in 1954.
Lee joined the U. S. Army Reserve in 1957. He was called up to active duty with the 49th Armored Division during the Berlin Crisis in 1961 and was stationed at Fort Polk, LA. While stationed there, he met Lynda Raye Drummond of Newton, TX, whom he married on August 17, 1963.
He worked many years for E. H. Winn, General Contracting, and then Robert Lange, Inc. for another 16 years until he retired to take care of his beloved wife Lynda as she went through a year-long struggle with pancreatic cancer.
Lee was very active in the First Baptist Church of Bellville, where he was baptized in 1977 and served as a deacon for over 40 years. He also served as the Sunday School Secretary for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends, as well as keeping all the family cars running. There was nothing he could not fix.
Lee is survived by his children Lisa Persky Ippolito of Spring, TX, and Tracy Allen Persky and wife Tammy of Bryan, TX; and grandchildren Kimberly Ippolito Leonard and husband Jacob of Ft. Collins, CO, and Michael Ippolito of Dallas, TX; and sister-in-law Donna Folsom Page and her husband David of Newton, TX.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynda Persky, his parents, Monroe and Hilma Persky, his sister Doris Poppe and her husband George, and his brother-in-law, James E. Folsom.
Serving as pallbearers for the service will be Michael Ippolito, Jacob Leonard, Glenn Poppe, Michael Poppe, Jerry Sisson, and Danny Meyers.
Serving as an honorary pallbearer is his best friend, Floyd Merten.
These words from his beloved Lynda give insight into Lee's character:
"Some things I love about Lee are his kindness; he's very even-tempered; he's dependable; he's not lazy; he's a good father to our children; he is trustworthy. I am convinced that he loves me with all his heart, and I love him just as much. The most important thing, though, is that he's a Christian. Thank you, Lord, for a fine Christian husband."
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Bellville, 4099 HWY 36 N, Bellville, TX 77418.
