Richard Dean Gearhart, age 65, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, in Chester, Illinois. Born in Murphysboro, Illinois, Richard lived a life marked by craftsmanship, resilience, and devotion to his family.

A skilled carpenter, butcher, and leather crafter, Richard poured his heart into every project he touched. Whether building homes, repairing engines, or casting a line into the water, he found joy in working with his hands and cooking on the grill.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Paul Gearhart; mother, Norma Adams; stepmother, Catherine (Parker) Gearhart; brothers, David and Michael Gearhart; sister, Rebecca Gearhart; and three beloved nephews, Shane Gearhart, Brian Lewis, and Terry Gearhart.

He is survived by his children, Casey Baltzell and Amber Kidd, both of Loveland, Colorado; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; 2 sisters, Linda (Gearhart)Wurth, and Marcella Gearhart, and many nieces and nephews who will carry forward his memory and spirit.

Richard’s legacy lives on in the homes he built, the lives he touched, and the family who loved him deeply. His quiet strength and generous heart will be missed but never forgotten.

A memorial Celebration of Life will be held in the near future for the surviving family members and friends.
