was born on June 23, 1955, to the late Adrion and Lorna Gordon in Morristown, New Jersey. He entered eternal rest on July 27, 2022 at his home in Tega Cay, South Carolina. He was educated in the East Orange and Morristown public school systems. He graduated from Morristown High School in 1973, and shortly thereafter Richard enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he served for four years.
Richard worked for the United Parcel Service as a driver for 36 years and retired in 2016. He was a die-hard NY Mets and NY Giants fan. He also loved to go fishing with his Legion buddies and whenever he had a chance an occasional deep sea fishing trip. Richard loved to center his vacations on his grandchildren.
Richard was a member of the American Legion Post 27 of Dover, New Jersey. After moving to South Carolina, he joined the American Legion Post 34 and the Marine Corp League Detachment 1123 of Rock Hill, South Carolina. He also was a member of the Mount Prospect Baptist Church, Rock Hill.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of five years, Gwendolyn; six children: Joan Tamea, Adrianne (Jerell), Richard (Danielle), Stephanie (Trent), and Kimberly, Michael; two stepchildren: Tanisha and Rufus (Ashley); brother Kevin; sister-in-law Cynthia (Jeffrey), Chanise, and Cindy. He was "Pop Pop" or "Grandpa" to 13 grandchildren: Malcolm, Destiney, Summer, Myles, Nevaeh, RJ, Shakai, Anizah, Kamdenn, Skyler, Kalani, Mehkai, Lareado; and eight step-grandchildren: Joanna, Joseph, Cameron, Gabriella, Charlotte, Ashtin, Jade, and Penelope; the mother of his children Stephanie; and a host of cousins and friends.
