Vincent J. Romano Jr., age 72, of Newton, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Morristown Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness.
Born in Bryan, TX, Vincent grew up in Morris Plains, later residing in Allamuchy Township before settling in Green Township in 1989. He was the devoted son of the late Vincent J. Romano Sr. and Florence (née Cattuna) Romano. A proud graduate of Morristown High School, Class of 1971, Vincent went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps.
Vincent dedicated his career to public service as a Police Officer with the Mendham Township Police Department, retiring with the rank of Sergeant in 2002. He was known for his integrity, leadership, and unwavering commitment to his community. Outside of work, Vincent had a deep passion for classic cars and often showcased his Triumph TR-6 at local car shows. He was an avid reader and a devoted military history enthusiast who also loved classic westerns. A member of the Disney Vacation Club, Vincent found joy in traveling-especially with his family to Walt Disney World and Disney's Vero Beach Resort in Florida. But above all, Vincent treasured the time he spent with those he loved.
In March of this year, Vincent was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elaine J. (née Pappas) Romano. He is survived by his devoted son, Michael, and Michael's fiancée, Melissa Barry; his sisters Linda T. Romano, Marianne and her husband Peter Elia, Diane Romano, and Nancy L. and her husband Anthony Elia; his sister-in-law Deborah and her husband Martin Burne; and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Vincent also leaves behind his beloved cats, Toots and Lucy. Vincent's presence, warmth, and sense of humor will be deeply missed, but the love he shared will live on in all who knew him.
Visitation will be held Tuesday June 24, 2025 from 1030 AM until 11 AM with Funeral Mass beginning at 11 AM in the Resurrection Roman Catholic Church #651 Millbrook Ave. Randolph, NJ. Entombment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery Garden Mausoleum #225 Ridgedale Ave. East Hanover, NJ.
