Richard Grochowski Obituary

Born in Cairnbrook, Pennsylvania, Richard moved with his family to Akron graduating from Akron North High School. After serving in the United States Air Force, Richard joined the Akron Police Department, retiring after 25 years of service. Richard continued to be active with the Fraternal Order of Police, becoming a labor representative, representing officers across the state.
Richard was an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending a day on Lake Erie with family and friends. He also loved spending his free time at his cabin in Pennsylvania, relaxing and enjoying the property he worked so hard on.
Preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Adelene, Richard is survived by his wife Betty of 49 years; sons John and Rick (Jenny); grandchildren Dylan and Madison; and sister Janice Stratton (Bill).
Memorial calling hours will take place on Friday, January 10th, from 6 - 8 PM at the Anthony Funeral Home McGowan-Reid & Santos Chapel at 247 Stow Ave in Cuyahoga Falls (at Third St., one block North of Portage Trail). Interment will follow at a private ceremony at the Western Reserve National Veterans Cemetery.

Betty and Grochowski Family,
So sad to learn of Rick's passing. I have known Rick since 1970 when I was a Rookie with APD. I'll always have fond memories of visiting you at the cabin i New Paris, Pa. Rick was a Top Shelf street cop, a Top Shelf Detective and an even more Top Shelf Friend. He will be remembered by all of us for many years to come for his leadership on the Dept. and with the FOP. Hang tough during these rough times and we are all with you. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. Rest in Peace, Brother Rick.
