Richard Keith Handelman

Richard Keith Handelman, born on October 24, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, at the age of 75. Richard proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, dedicating several years to military service. Following his time in the Navy, he became the owner of R.K. Protective Service, where he specialized in alarm and security systems. His work was marked by dedication and a commitment to ensuring the safety and security of others. Beyond his professional life, Richard had a passion for riding motorcycles, finding joy and freedom on the open road. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Myra G. Wells and Lee Handelman. Richard is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Marilyn Handelman; his daughters, Brandy Drew (David) and Haley Brown, along with her fiancé, Caleb Ridenhour; and his sons, Jesse Brown (Andrea Kunze) and Michael Handelman. He also leaves behind his treasured grandchildren, Maxx Drew, Zoe Drew, and Darian Brown. Richard is further survived by his dear sister, Diane Kline; his niece, Ashley Clanton-Tomlin; great-nieces and nephews, Daisy, Paisley, Lee; his mother-in-law, Mary Brown, and many friends who were touched by his kindness and generosity. A celebration of Richard's life will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Parrott Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Association, P.O. Box 5235, Slidell, LA 70469, in remembrance of Richard Handelman. Richard will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
