Richard R. Hardie, 75, of Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 19 th, 2024. Born on September 7, 1948, in Canton, Richard was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Charlotte Merrill. A dedicated and hardworking man, Richard spent 35 years of his life working at The Timken Company, where he made lifelong friends and contributed significantly to the community through his work.
Richard was a devoted husband to Shirley Hardie, with whom he shared many wonderful years. He was a loving father to his children: Joseph Hardie of Brewster, Ohio; April Powers of Florida; Sharron Bayer of Canton, Ohio; and Angela Hardie of
Canton, Ohio. Richard also welcomed and cherished his stepsons: Michael Neff (Debra) of Canton, Ohio; Brian Neff (Tammy) of Texas; James Neff (RaeAnne) of St. Clairsville, Ohio; and Ronald Neff (Carrie) of Alliance, Ohio.
Family was the cornerstone of Richard's life, and he took great pride in being a brother to John D. Hardie of Canton, Ohio, and to his sisters Susan Long (Robert) of Canton, Ohio, and Anita Allen (Johnny) of Canton, Ohio.
Richard's legacy lives on through his 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.
His memory will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Richard's name to a charity of your choice. Calling hours 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday August 22, 2024 and 9:00- 10:00 Friday August 23 with funeral service at 10:00.
