Richard J. Heber age 78 of Newton Falls passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday Feb. 28, 2026 at the Burton Healthcare Center in Burton, OH. He was born on May 3, 1947 in Warren, OH the son of the late James Elmer Heber and Florence Linda (McKibben) Heber. Dick had lived his entire life in Newton Falls and graduated from Newton Falls High School in the Class of 1965. After high school, he served in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1967- 1969. He married the love of his life, the former Betty Ann Howard on July 17, 1971, and they enjoyed 54 wonderful years of marriage together. Dick worked at General Motors in Lordstown as a Material Handler/ Coordinator for over 39 years retiring in 2006. He loved golfing, playing bocce, studying history, spending time with his grandchildren, and friends, and watching sports. Dick also volunteered his time working the Suicide hot lines and coaching Varsity Soccer. Dick was a member of the former First Congregational Church in Newton Falls, the Amvets Post #112, the VFW Post #3332, and the American Legion Post #236. He is preceded in death by his parents James & Florence Heber.
Dick is survived by his wife: Betty A. Heber of Newton Falls, 1 daughter: Coleen & Anthony Marquette of Newton Falls, 1 son: James & Amanda Heber of Rootstown, OH, 1 sister: Linda & Kermit Morris of Leavittsburg, 2 nieces: Beth & Tara Harkless, 1 nephew: Rick Cunningham, and 4 grandchildren: Cody, Cole, Cruz, and Lilly.
Funeral services will be at James Funeral Home in Newton Falls on Saturday March 7, 2026 at 1:00pm with Pastor Jennifer Dorn officiating. Calling hours will be from 11:00am - 1:00pm. Military honors will be performed by the Newton Falls Veterans Honor Guard. Cremation will follow the funeral service. He will be laid to rest at Newton Falls Cemetery. The family has requested that all donations please be made to either: Newton Falls VFW Post # 3332 433 Arlington Blvd. Newton Falls, OH 44444 or the Newton Falls Amvets Post #112 37 West Broad St. Newton Falls, OH 44444in his memory.
