He was born on Sunday, January 19, 1958, in East Saint Louis, IL, the son of Robert and Betty (nee Weaver) Heilig.
On Friday, May 14, 2004, he married Angela D. Heilig, nee Tague, who survives.
Richard was raised in Washington Park, IL. He worked at a service station, laborer, forklift driver, Jakel Manufacturing, Triad Manufacturing, Helping Hands Med Care, Belleville, IL; and A-1 Medical Transportation, Belleville, IL. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, and his "Harley" riding. He liked his morning coffee. He especially enjoyed time spent with his children and grandchildren.
Richard loved to spend time with his wife, Angie, just hanging out, enjoying their coffee and watching birds.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, August 12, 2022, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.
Memorial Service will be at 7:00 PM on Friday, August 12, 2022, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, with Rev. Tim Darmour-Paul, Pastor, Grantfork United Church of Christ, Grantfork, Illinois, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Family - in leu of flowers.
