Stanley, Richard "Butch" Helstrom age 85, died peacefully at home with his loving family by his side.
There will be no calling hours. Funeral services and internment will be private for the family.
It is requested that memorial donations be made to Whitney Cemetery PO Box 98 Seneca Castle, NY 14547
Butch was born on December 15, 1939 in Canandaigua, NY, the son of the late Alton and Mildred Austin Helstrom. He started working at the age of 12 watering bricks at Phelps Cement for Phil Haers. He then went to work for Art Salisbury at Sunny Side Apple Farm. Butch lived with Fred and Susan Durkee for 2 years while working on their farm Durwick Farms and continued to work on the farm for 32 years. After retirement from the farm he went to work at Victor Insulators for 18 years before retiring. He loved helping anyone in need and was the Caretaker for Whitney Cemetery and Seneca Castle. Butch and his wife were Eucharistic Ministers at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Stanley. He loved the outdoors, camping and fishing, especially Bullhead fishing. Family was the center of his life and he was so proud of his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Sandra Helstrom of Stanley Children Chris (Steve) Watts of Gates, NC Mike Helstrom of Stanley Cindy (Cliff) Olander of Clifton Springs Grandchildren Joshua Watts, Angela (Tom) Kurtz Cliff (Heather) Olander Adrian (Jenna) Helstrom Spencer (Amber) Helstrom Great-grandchildren Alyssa and Eli Olander Stevie and KiKi Kurtz Sister Alta (Ken) Anstee of Clyde Sister in law Darlene Helstrom of Seneca Castle Many nieces, nephews and extended family He was predeceased by his daughter Kathryn, twin of Chris.
