Richard Dennis Higgs

WILLIAMSFIELD-Richard Dennis Higgs, Age 73, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2025 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born September 3. 1951 in Greenville, PA, he was the son of the late Richard A. and Willma (Williams) Higgs. Strong in his faith, Dennis was an active member at Our Lady of Victory Church, Andover, OH.
Married August 26, 1972, Dennis married his beloved wife, Linda Watkins-Johnson. A devoted husband, he shared an enduring partnership with Linda. Together, they raised two wonderful children, who were the pride and joy of his life. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he took great pleasure in watching it grow with the addition of his beloved grandchildren. Dennis was a very active grandfather, never missing a chance to attend his grandchildren's sporting events, cheering them on, and celebrating their achievements.
An avid outdoorsman, he found peace in hunting, fishing, and camping. A sport's enthusiast, Dennis's love for football and baseball was well known. He spent many an afternoon engrossed in the games, sharing his insights and enthusiasm with anyone who would listen.
Beyond his hobbies, Richard was a man of many talents. His hands could craft and fix anything they touched, a skill he put to great use when he built the family home. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda Higgs; two children, Eric (Heather)Higgs and Kelly (Dave) Gilpin; three grandchildren, Andrew and Rachel Ostavitz and Elaine Higgs; sister, Maureen "Bunnie" (Brad) Barnes.
In addition to his parents, Dennis is preceded in death by his brother, Tim Higgs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Our Lady of Victory Church, 481 S Main Street, Andover, OH 44003, at 1:00pm.
Later in the evening on Wednesday, August 20 2025, calling hours will be held from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect Street Andover, OH 44003. Private inurnment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Adoration Hospice, 2302 Metcalf Drive Unit 24, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.
