Robert D. Augusta, 'Mr. A.', age 85, of Mecca township, OH, died Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Windsor House of Champion in Champion, OH.
He was born June 1, 1939, in Warren,OH, a son of Stephen and Ann (Yaugo) Augusta. He was a 1957 honors graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and a lifetime Trumbull County resident.
Mr. Augusta was employed by Ohio Lamp and by Republic Steel in Warren where he served as leader of the bull gang and retired after many years of service. He also owned the Brothers Pizza franchise and several area restaurants and lounges. He was a member of the Inter-County Horseman's Association, the Penn-Ohio Horseman's Association, and the United Professional Horseman's Association. He was a world grand champion showing parade American saddle bred horses and had earned many blue ribbons while showing horses. Mr. Augusta had a love of all animals.
He is survived by his son, David Augusta of Mecca township; his daughter, Nichole Augusta of Hubbard, OH; and his niece, Debbie (Mark) Hull of Liberty, OH. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Donald Augusta and Stephen Augusta.
A private celebration of life will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Welfare League, 545 Brunstetter Rd. SW, Warren,OH 44481.
