Richard L. Hirsch, 82, of Boalsburg, died Sunday, October 26, 2025, at home, surrounded by his family.
Born January 3, 1943, in Alton, IL, he was the son of the late Richard L. and Betty L. (née Schneider) Hirsch Sr.. On April 22, 1972, he married Karen D Hinson, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Kristin J. Hirsch of Washington DC, and Brett J. Hirsch of Baldwin, MD, and three grandchildren, Jocelyn M., Samuel J., and Amelia E. Hirsch.
Richard was drafted into the United States Army in 1967 after attending college. He worked as a Project Engineer for Knoll Furniture for 26 years, retiring in 2009.
He was a member of the Harris Twp. Lions Club, a volunteer at the Penn State Arboretum, and a valued member of the Liberty Hill community. He also served on the Zion Lutheran Church Council. He loved his role as Santa Claus at the annual Christmas Tree lighting in Boalsburg and breakfast with Santa at the Boalsburg Fire Company. He will be fondly remembered as the "Mayor of Liberty Hill".
His family would like to thank UPMC Family Hospice for their steadfast care and their cherished friends who have offered support through meals and cards.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church, 105 Old Boalsburg Rd, Boalsburg, PA, with the funeral following at 11 a.m. with Pastor Brent Book officiating.
Entombment will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
