Irene Helen Abramson

Irene Green Abramson passed away peacefully at Juniper Village, State College, Pennsylvania, at the remarkable age of 100.
Born in Philadelphia on April 8, 1925, Irene was the daughter of the late Max and Elizabeth Green. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Finkel and Ruth Malask, and one brother, Stanley Green. She grew up in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where she met her future husband, Charlie Abramson of State College. Irene and Charlie shared 57 wonderful years of marriage.
After raising their family in State College, the couple spent 30 happy years in Florida, enjoying retirement and sunshine. Following Charlie's passing in 2004, Irene moved back to State College in 2015 to be near her family, where she enjoyed many fulfilling years surrounded by loved ones.
Irene led an active and social life. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing bridge, and participating in community and social activities. She cherished the friendships she made and valued the connections that enriched her life for so many years.
She is survived by her son, Ellis Abramson and his wife Lynn, and her daughter, Bonnie Eckstut (husband Howard, deceased), all of State College. Also surviving are her loving grandchildren, Joel Abramson and his wife Kayt, and Sarah Abramson, who brought her great pride and happiness. She will be fondly remembered by extended family and many dear friends whose lives she touched-especially her great-niece, Sophie Goldberg, who visited her frequently.
Funeral services will be held at Koch's Funeral Home, State College, Pa., on Tuesday, October 28, at 12:00 p.m., followed by burial at Centre County Memorial Park. A luncheon will follow.
Shiva will be observed at the home of Ellis and Lynn Abramson, 913 Walnut Spring Lane, State College, on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m.
