Richard Hirschman Obituary
In Loving Memory of Richard Hirschman
June 16, 1947 - January 29, 2024
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Hirschman, a beloved husband, cherished dad and papa, respected colleague, and devout follower of Christ. Rich departed this world on January 29, 2024, due to complications from pneumonia. Born on June 16, 1947, Rich grew up on his family farm in Greentown with his parents, Irene and Arthur Hirschman, and his 5 siblings Grace (Kenny) Shanower, Jerry (Jane) Hirschman, Viola Roush, Ruth (Denny) Hughes, and Carl (Theresa) Hirschman.
Richard, a loving husband and true family man, shared 47 years of marriage with his cherished wife, Sue. Their bond was a testament to enduring love, and Richard's heart overflowed with affection for her. His devotion to Sue was the cornerstone of a beautiful life together, along with their 3 children, Stephanie (Erle) Keller, Josh (Beth) Hirschman, and Ben Hirschman. His favorite role was "papa" and he spent much time with his 3 granddaughters, Harper, Hadley, and Harlow Hirschman.
A proud tool and die maker, Richard dedicated over four decades of his life to Xcel Mold and Machine, leaving a legacy of precision and skill that will be remembered by colleagues and friends alike. Richard was a steadfast member of Church of the Lakes, who served Christ through helping anyone and everyone who needed a hand. He would often be heard saying, "I can help, so I should." He selflessly served on numerous Habitat for Humanity projects throughout Ohio, building homes and hope for those in need. He and his wife, Sue, were the founders of the Celebrate Recovery ministry at Church of the Lakes. He also loved cars, drag racing, working on various projects around the house, and spending time with his family and friends.
Richard Hirschman's life was a tapestry of love for his family and an industrious spirit. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and helpfulness that will forever inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace, his memory cherished by the countless lives he touched.
Calling hours will be Friday, February 2, 2024 from 5-7 PM at Church of the Lakes and 10-11 AM Saturday. Memorial service will begin in the Church at 11 AM with Pastor Brian George officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Lakes or Habitat for Humanity in Rich's honor.
