Richard Avery Hoffman, age 77, of Waxahachie, TX, passed away peacefully on April 5th, 2023. Richard was born on January 18, 1946, in Grand Rapids, Michigan and spent most of his life in the West Michigan area. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Clara, and sister, Sherry Haner. Richard is survived by his twin brother Roger and his wife Lee of Hudsonville, Michigan, his sister Lorraine Hilliard of Wyoming, Michigan; his two sons Geoffrey and his wife Allison of Mesa, Arizona, and Andrew and his wife Jessica of Waxahachie, Texas; his ex-wife Jacklyn Hoffman of Gun Barrel City, Texas; and his grandchildren Ryan, Tyler, and Emily Price of Arizona, and Deidra, Emily, Josiah, Tracie, and Melina Hoffman of Waxahachie, Texas; and one great grandson, Gabriel Arturo Dipple-Price, of Mesa, Arizona.
Richard dedicated his life to the service of others. As a young man out of high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and earned an honorable medical discharge having spent 7 weeks in a Naval hospital in San Francisco due to rheumatoid arthritis. He married Jacklyn Anne Bellamy and had 2 sons to which he devoted his life. He worked tirelessly as machinist and shipping coordinator as well as running his own small business to ensure his kids always had more than he did growing up. Even after "retirement" Richard often worked two jobs as well as doing various odd jobs for family and friends. In 2011 he relocated to Waxahachie to be closer to his younger son's growing family. Here he re-kindled his love of weather by becoming a Skywarn Storm Spotter and learning to storm chase with his family.
Richard's ashes will be split between the two places he called home: Texas and Michigan
