Richard Earl Howlett, age 60, passed away peacefully at his home in McAlester, OK, on October 8, 2024. Born on June 3, 1964, in the picturesque town of New Roads, LA, Richard was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend whose spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Charles Alexander, and his wife, Dora Jean Howlett, whom he married on June 2, 2001. Until her passing, Dora Jean Howlett, and Richard together created a loving home filled with laughter and memories. His love for Jean was evident to all, and their bond was a beautiful example of partnership and devotion.
A proud graduate of Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge, LA, Richard's sense of adventure led him to serve in the United States Navy from 1982 to 1997, a time during which he embraced the values of duty, honor, and sacrifice. His service was a testament to his commitment to his country and to the ideals he held dear.
Richard is survived by his sister, Ruth Deweese and husband Jack of Louisiana; brother, Robert Howlett and wife Nancy of Baton Rouge, LA; and his adoring children son, Richard Dusablon of Louisville, KY; and daughters Roshonda Slater and husband Keith of Spokane, WA, Raleah Damron and fiancé Trevor of Spokane, WA, and Serena and Savannah Adams of Oklahoma. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Wyatt, Gia, Kiera, Olivia, and Kian -who brought him immeasurable joy and pride.
Richard will be remembered not only for his kindness and generosity but also for his ability to light up a room with his presence. He had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Richard's honor, ensuring his legacy of kindness continues to flourish.
Richard Earl Howlett will forever remain in our hearts, a shining example of love, strength, and unwavering spirit. His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
