Richard Alan Humphrey

Richard Alan "Rick" Humphrey, age 77, of Campbell, NY, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. He was born in Cortland, NY, on September 4, 1948, to Richard D. and Doris (Wynn) Humphrey.
Rick graduated from East High School in 1966 and soon after joined the United States Air Force. He was proud to serve his country as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist, working primarily on the F-105 Thunderchief.
After returning home, Rick earned his associate degree from Corning Community College and began his career with the Corning Police Department, where he became the department's first K9 officer. He served with dedication and integrity until a disability forced his early retirement.
Rick will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, quick wit, and big heart. He loved spending time with family, especially when surrounded by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who always brought a smile to his face. He also cherished the friendships he made along the way, including his special friend, Sal Aguirre.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Tammy (Jewell) Humphrey; his daughters, Crystal (Robert) Watson and Ashleigh (Jason) Bailey; sister, Bonnie (Sid) Oliver; and brother, Theron (Mary) Humphrey. Rick was a proud grandfather to Casey (Kaitlyn) Watson, Robert (Nicki) Watson, Patricia Watson, Aundria (Shad) Wells, Aimee Bailey, and Logan Bailey; great-grandfather to 10 beloved great-grandchildren, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Rick was predeceased by his stepmother, Beatrice (Blencowe) Humphrey; sister, Betsy Myers; brothers, Daniel Humphrey and Douglas W. Humphrey; and his "partner in crime," Alf, his police K9.
A Graveside Service, with military honors, will be held at Bath National Cemetery on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 11:00 am. Please arrive at the entrance of the cemetery 15 minutes early.
Rick's family will forever treasure the love, laughter, and memories he left behind.
In lieu of flowers, Rick requested that donations be made to the Children's Department of the Southeast Steuben County Library, 300 Nasser Civic Center Plaza, Corning, New York 14830.
