Richard Arthur Husfelt of Magnolia, Delaware, passed away Sunday, January 21st, 2024. He was 51.
He was born October 30th, 1972, in Fairbanks, Alaska, to Judith Lynn Hayton and the late, Allan David Husfelt.
Mr. Husfelt, Rich as everyone knew him, was born in Alaska and raised in Delaware. He was a talented drummer, singer and played in numerous local bands. He was an original member of the band Fuzzbox Piranha for 14 years before his MS forced him to retire. While an active member of the band, he opened for the bands Kix and Cold and was part of a recording, "Hotel Cepollina", a parody of Hotel California, in honor of Frank Cepollina to wake up astronaut John Grunsfeld on Day 6 of the STS-125 Space Hubble Mission. Music was his life, so when he was not playing with the band, he was somewhere singing karaoke. He loved his family and friends, especially his daughter Britney.
He is preceded in death by his father.
Mr. Husfelt is survived by his daughter, Britney Lynn Husfelt of Pasadena, MD; his mother, Judith Lynn Hayton; his sisters, Regina Shaffer (Dale) of Denton, MD, and Lynnette Knight (Ronnie) of Dover, DE; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held 4:00pm, Saturday February 10th, 2023, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, Delaware. A viewing will be held one hour prior at 3:00pm.
