RICHARD V. IVY, died peacefully on July 12, 2025, at Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio. Richard was born on May 22, 1946, in Dexter, Missouri. His family moved to Galion, Ohio and Richard later relocated to Columbus. Richard enjoyed being a car salesman for forty years. He particularly relished his time being an Uber driver, an unexpected second career. As a proud father and grandfather, he especially loved sharing stories about his family with his passengers. Richard was a loving, devoted, and wonderful husband, father, and brother. His family filled his days with joy and Richard cherished any time spent with family. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and played many sports throughout his life. His life was deeply rooted in faith, and he served our Lord with gladness. Richard showed his love through acts of service, repairing and remodeling the homes of friends and family, building several sets of bunk beds for his grandchildren, and was always willing to lend a helping hand at a moment's notice or deliver a homemade banana pudding. He was an incredibly warm and caring person who never met a stranger.
Richard is survived by his wife of 37 years, Darrel Timmons Ivy; five children,Terri Tanner (Kevin), Todd Ivy (Amy), Aaron Ivy (Kim), Lee Swad (Lindsey), Noah Swad (Meghan); ten grandchildren and their families, and two great granddaughters; two siblings, Darrell Ivy and Alveda Sue Castle; and by many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, July 16, at Radiant Life Church, 7100 Post Road in Dublin, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard's memory to the Kobacker House.
