Richard H. Jacobs

Richard “Jake” Jacobs passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, at the NYS Veterans Home in Oxford, NY at the age of 93.

Born April 7, 1932 in Cortland, Dick was the son of the late Leon and Ila Jacobs. He was a graduate of Virgil Central School and resided the majority of his life in the Virgil area.

Dick was a proud Korean War Army Veteran. After over 30 years, he retired from SUNY Cortland Dick enjoyed camping, being outdoors, meticulously mowing his lawn, bowling, golf, and working on his antique cars. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling the country and spending winters in Florida.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of over 70 years, Lucy Pond Jacobs, and children Susan (Stanley) Connelly, Dale (Lori) Jacobs, and Jeanine (Peter) Masse, six grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

Dick was predeceased by his parents, his brother Donel Jacobs, and grandson Austin Lites. Family and friends are invited to a calling hour at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 15, 2025, with a service following immediately at Perkins Funeral Home. Dick will be interred in the Virgil Rural Cemetery on a warm, sunny day.
