Richard William Jarrett

Richard W. "Rick" Jarrett, 70, of Mertztown, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025, in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest, Allentown. PA. He was the husband of the late Debra A. (Kern) Jarrett, who died on May 14, 2024. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last August.

Born in Allentown, PA, Rick was a son of the late William G. and Lorraine E. (Miller) Jarrett. He was a 1973 graduate of Brandywine Heights High School, Topton, PA, where he was a member of both the soccer and basketball teams for all four of his high school years. Rick also played little league baseball in his younger years. Following his high school graduation, Rick began working for Atlas Minerals and Chemicals, Inc., Mertztown. He then ran his own petroleum business, Berks Petroleum, for several years before being employed by Matts Valley Petroleum, Inc., Orefield, for over 10 years.

Rick was a member of Ray A. Master Post 217, American Legion in Topton, and Mertztown Rod and Gun Club, as he had an interest in hunting. Rick was an avid race fan and enjoyed his trips to Watkins Glen, NY, with "The Gang." He enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, Ocean City, MD, and staying at the Plim Plaza to listen to music.

The family would like to thank the Lehigh Valley Hospital staff for their excellent care shown towards Rick, especially Elise, Rochelle and Beth.

Rick is survived by his daughter, Linsey Jarrett, companion of Will Smalley, of Mertztown and grandson, Patrick Smalley Jarrett, Rick's "Little Man", who he adored with all of his heart; sisters, Jane Jarrett, Florida, Nancy (Jarrett), wife of E. Frederick Brossman, York, PA, and Barbara (Jarrett), wife of Arthur Dieter, Germansville, PA; brother and sister-in-laws, Barry C., husband of Marguerite (Haurus) Kern, Blandon, Roxann M. (Kern), wife of Richard L. Jarrett, Mertztown, Kim R. (Kern), wife of Craig Borrell, Topton, and Tracey L. Kern, wife of Francisco Garcia, of Topton; and all of their families. Along with his wife and parents, Rick was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Jarrett on May 14, 2024, the same day as Debbie's passing.

A memorial service to celebrate and honor Rick's life and a time for sharing, will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, PA. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery of Bowers. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
