Richard Dennis Jochem, 87, of Riverview, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025.
Born on February 10, 1938, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Richard was the son of Arthur and Lula Jochem. He graduated from Pulaski High School in 1956 and went on to serve his country with pride in the United States Coast Guard from 1959 to 1963. After his military service, Richard began his civilian career at Norburg before joining the City of Milwaukee Fire Department in 1969. He served the city with dedication and bravery for 25 years, retiring in 1994.
On October 1, 1991, Richard married the love of his life, Janice. Together they built a life filled with love, adventure, and cherished memories.
Richard had a zest for life and a deep love for the outdoors. He found joy in the water-lifeguarding, waterskiing, boating, and swimming-and in the thrill of adventure, enjoying motorcycling, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, scuba diving, traveling, and camping.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Janice, his parents Arthur and Lula, three grandsons, and sister-in-law, Judy. He is survived by his children: sons Richard (Karen), Dennis, and John (Jamie); daughters Joanne (Scott) and Denise; his brother Bill; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
A private family memorial service will be held in Wisconsin at a later date to honor Richard's memory.
Richard will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, deep love for his family, and unwavering dedication to service. He will be dearly missed
