Richard A. Kergan, 74, of Mentor, passed away Friday, Oct. 27, 2023, at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights.
Born Jan. 3, 1949, in Frostburg, Md., he had been a lifetime resident of Lake County.
Richard loved fishing, enjoyed classic cars and attending car cruise-ins.
Mr. Kergan had worked as a hairstylist for many years at Fazio's in the Great Lake Mall in Mentor. He then retired from the Swagelok Company in 2011, where he had worked as machinist for 22 years.
Richard was the loving companion of Lois E. (nee Kriner) Crowley; beloved father of Brigitt (Marty) Taylor, Branden Kergan, Nicholas Kergan and Michele (James) Klimo; stepfather of Paul (Melissa) Crowley and Eric Crowley; cherished grandfather of Blaine Price, Brianna Price, Sabrina Crowley, Peyton Klimo, Maddie Klimo and Makayla Klimo; great-grandfather of Briella Price; dear brother of Barbara Jean Smith and Scott "Randy" (Belinda) Kergan; uncle of Danielle Pitrelli, Scott (Nicole) Kergan, and Sean Kergan; and was a great-uncle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Evelyn A. (nee Yaist) Kergan; and brother, John Gregory Kergan.
Family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), in Mentor, with a Celebration of Life service at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chester Township.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name are suggested to the Lake Humane Society, 7564 Tyler Blvd., Mentor, OH 44060, or to the Animal Rescue or Shelter of your choice.
