Richard Kilpatrick Obituary
Richard Kilpatrick graduated from Minnechaug High School then went on to barber school to get his barber license. After completing barber school he opened one of the first black owned barbershops in Springfield, MA, Killas Barberhsop which served the community for over 35 years. He was a faithful member of the Between Bridges ministry. He was a sports coach for Springfield Red Sox baseball team where he helped lots of kids including his youngest son Malik Kilpatrick learn the game of baseball. He was always there to lend the extra hand or ear, and give the words of encouragement to all his friends and family.
Killa is survived by his children Richard Kilpatrick Jr, Sidney Kilpatrick, and Malik Kilpatrick; his grandchildren Ariyanna Kilpatrick, Dante Kilpatrick, Jemya Kilpatrick, and Sunshine Kilpatrick; his siblings Van Kilpatrick Jr, Brian Kilpatrick, Vinetta Kilpatrick and her fiancé Darryl Bress, Niecy Morgan, Beverly and Larry Creswell, Nicole Darmand, Van Sullivan, Thomas Pedraza, and Tony Mebane.
Ricky will also be remembered fondly by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends who will forever cherish his memory.
The service will take place on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at New Jerusalem COGIC, 209 Quincy St, Springfield, MA., followed by his interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield, MA.
Killa will be remembered for his warm heart, quiet strength, and the love he gave so freely to everyone around him. His laughter, words and presence will never be forgotten. His memory will live on in the forever in the hearts of those who were blessed enough to know him.
Rest in heavenly love, Ricky. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

My Condolences to the entire Kilpatrick family. I remember Ricky as a funny character with a great personality in high school. I thought I'd get to see him at our next Class Reunion but I guess I will see you in the next lifetime. Rest easy my friend. God bless you all.
