Richard R. King, age 68, passed away on 7/25/2022. The son of the late Charles King and Patricia McCracken King, he was born on 5/23/1954.
Rick attended Strong Vincent High School and continued his education throughout his life with a GED, a welding degree, an accounting degree, and an electrician's degree. He was a hard-working man his whole life, working for Riley Stoker for 20 years until it closed followed by 5 years at GE Locomotives until its doors closed. He never gave up improving himself and providing for his family.
He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Jean King; brothers Baby Johnny, Jimmy King, and Tony King; Father- and Mother-in-law Robert and Jeanne Moore; Brother-in-law Clyde Deckert; Sister-in-law Debra Moore-Fox & husband Ray Fox; nephew Joshua Fox; niece Vicki King; and many pets, including most recently Trixie Turtle & his beloved dog Shorty.
He's mourned by his surviving family and friends - his wife of 42 years Pam Moore King; his daughters Jamie King and April Fernald & her husband Heath Fernald; his sister Kathy King and her children Katrina King, Joey King, Alvin Deckert, Michael Deckert, & Brandy Deckert; his sister Mary's daughter Sheri Markiewicz & husband Gary Markiewicz and Mary's grandson Jessie Skubius; his brother Jimmy's children Krystal King, Jacob King, Sara King, & Scott King; his brother Charles King (CK); his brother-in-law Dale Moore; his sister-in-law Debra's children, Liana Walczak and Matthew Fox & his wife Jenny; several great-nephews and nieces; and his good friends Bob Montgomery and Foxe Cleveland (as well as many other lifelong friends).
He was a talented bowler and loved to golf with his friends until several health issues over the years made it a thing of his past. He continued to keep himself as busy as he could with his woodworking, making several beloved pieces for family and friends. Most recently, he enjoyed fishing again down at North Pier, where he made another friend in Roger & others that he enjoyed seeing at 5 am before the sun was up. He would make friends wherever he went, even in the younger generation where his daughters' friends growing up called him Daddy or Papa Rick (with the next generation of their children all calling him Grampa Rick).
We would like to thank Davita Lake Erie Home Dialysis staff and doctors who helped Rick through very trying times, ProMedica Hospice staff as well for trying to make him as comfortable as possible, and Dr Frank Tursi for caring for Rick for over 30 years.
rip, love you daddy and loveman.
