Richard Kjeldsen, affectionately known as Dick, Uncle Dick, Dr. Kjeldsen, or Professor, passed away on August 14, 2025, at the age of 88. He was a beloved figure to many, leaving behind a legacy of knowledge, humor, and fun. Known for his sharp wit and keen sense of humor, he touched many lives along his journey. He had a deep love for all things American - including baseball, beer, hamburgers, automobiles, and sharing great meals with loved ones. A native of Chicago's South Side, he had a life-long passion for baseball, particularly the White Sox. He found strength and solace in his faith. His academic journey led him to earn a BS, MBA, and PhD from the University of Arkansas, where he majored in finance and economics. Dr. Kjeldsen dedicated his education and experience to enlightening and educating students, serving as professor and lecturer of economics and finance at several esteemed institutions. His extensive experience in international banking, spanning over twenty years, enriched his lecturing and teaching with invaluable insights for his students. Richard Kjeldsen is preceded in death by his parents, Juel and Julia, and his brother, Juel. He is survived by his sister-in-law, two nephews and one niece, and their families (making him Great-Great Uncle Dick). He is also survived by several cousins and their families. His funeral service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2025. A luncheon will follow to celebrate his life and legacy. Richard Kjeldsen will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, colleagues and students. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a charitable donation in his memory.
