LANCE, RICHARD D. of Waterford; August 22, 2025; age 69;

Rick was the cherished husband of Leslie Lance, beloved father of Jeni (James) Brown and Dakota Lance, and proud grandfather of Kaelyn, Rowen, and Lilah. He is also survived by his mother Patsey Lance and his brother Michael Lance (Scott Filgo). Rick is preceded in death by his father Charles Lance.

Rick was a veteran of the United States Air Force and later spent more than 30 years working as a truck driver for Ryan Transport before retiring in January of 2022.

Rick had a quiet generosity and a soft spot for animals. He regularly supported organizations like the ASPCA, Best Friends Society, and K9s for Warriors. His compassion extended to many causes - including charities that served veterans, children, and families - such as Wounded Warriors, Toys for Tots, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and Gleaners Community Food Bank.

Rick also supported the PTO at his grandchildren's elementary school and their sports teams, always showing up in ways that mattered. Though not one for the spotlight, he believed in doing good without needing recognition.

He cared deeply and gave consistently. He'll be remembered with love, respect, and gratitude by those who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Riverside Chapel, Simpson-Modetz Funeral Home, 5630 Pontiac Lake Road, Waterford, MI.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Liver Foundation.
