WATERBURY - Richard Lewis, age 84 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Waterbury Hospital. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Richard was born December 5th 1937 in Edenton, North Carolina, the son of the late Walter and Eva Lewis. He was raised and educated in North Carolina and relocated to Connecticut where he settled in the Waterbury area. Richard spent many years working as a machinist for various manufacturing companies throughout the state, prior to his retirement. He was an avid traveler and loved listening to music but was always happiest while spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was a long time member of the Zion Baptist Church in Waterbury.
Left to cherish his memory and honor his legacy, are beloved friend, mother of children; Barbara Williams of Waterbury, his children; Thomas Johnson "TJ" (Tracy) of Virginia, Kitchawa Lewis, Nicole Lewis, and Christina Lewis all of Waterbury and his godson, Antonie Richaude Lingard of NY. He also leaves his 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his son, Samuel Richard Lewis and his companion Sarah Gregg.
Funeral services for Mr. Lewis will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022 at 11:00 at Mt. Olive Church of God in Christ at 68 Berkeley Ave. Waterbury CT. 06704. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery Waterbury Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the Lewis family on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of the service at Mt Olive Church. Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd, Waterbury, CT, has been honored to be assisting the Lewis family during this most difficult time.
