Richard Dane Lewis, age 87, of Salisbury, NC formerly of Vandalia and Hannibal, MO passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025, at North Carolina State Veterans Home.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held 11:00 am Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vandalia, MO. Bro. Kenny Haddock will officiate.

The family is being served by the Waters Funeral Home of Vandalia.

Richard was born on July 14, 1938, in Vandalia, MO the son of Floyd and Lillian (Teacutter) Lewis.

He was united in marriage to Vikkie A. Oberling on February 7, 1981, in Hannibal, MO. She preceded him in death on August 19, 2011.

Survivors include his daughters, Debra Lewis of Winston-Salem, NC, Diane Lewis of Vandalia, MO, Dawn Millsaps of Winston-Salem, NC, Denise Lewis-Zumpano of Winston-Salem, NC, Darlene Lewis-Kemp (Terry) of Ranger GA, and Faelyn Samantha Lewis of Hannibal, MO; siblings, Floyd "Randy" Lewis of Vandalia, MO, Sherri Lewis of South Pekin, IL, Judy McMackin of Peoria, IL and Rosalind Welch of Vandalia, MO; numerous, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by two daughter, Delores Quillen and Leilani Kimberly Hodde; and brother, Marvin Lewis.

Richard honorably served his country in the United States Navy.

Professionally Richard worked on the family farm and later had his own trucking business and was co-owner alongside his wife in Pudd N Heads in downtown Hannibal.

Away from work, Richard enjoyed watching dirt track racing especially the modified's, NASCAR, riding motorcycles and fishing. Farming and trucking were truly Richard's favorite past-time. Richards most cherished times were spent with his family and friends as much as possible.
