Richard John Lewis

Richard J. Lewis passed away on September 16, 2025. He was born on March, 2, 1948 to Dick and Elayne Lewis. He graduated from Richfield High School, attended the U of M for 1 year and then joined the Navy.

He was attached to a helicopter squadron aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Bon Homme Richard in Vietnam. He was very proud of being a veteran. Rick and Sheryl (Bartlett) wed in 1970 and were married for 55 years, raising a family in Eagan, MN. He spent his most recent career self­employed selling insurance for many years.

Keeping his memory are wife, Sheryl, sons Matthew Lewis (Rochelle) of Red Wing, MN and Mark Lewis (Tracy) of Ruskin, FL. Also survived by brother Bob Lewis (Terry) of Hovland, MN and sister Patti Anderson (Dick) of Chippewa Falls, WI, 7 Grandchildren, Demi Miller (Brandon), Zach, Brandon, Luke, Mason, Jake and Heather Lewis,·and 4 Great Grandchildren.

Rick loved vacationing in Mexico and had happy memories with family and friends enjoying the culture, food and warm weather.

Grandchildren were the joy of his life and he loved having them visit and stay for periods of time. He loved all animals and had a special place in his heart for his two shelties, Major and Buddy.

Services will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 at Advent United Methodist Church, 3945 Lexington Avenue South. Visitation will be held from 10:00 -11:00, Celebration of life at 11 :00 and everyone is invited to a luncheon at the church following the service.

Interment will be at a later date in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
