Richard "Dickie" Locklear of Shannon, NC was born on Friday, October 10, 1952 in Scotland County to the late James C. Locklear and Aileen Locklear and was born into eternity on Saturday July 13, 2024 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, completing his journey of 71 years.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife: Anita Ann Pevia Locklear; two children: Robert and Molly; one granddaughter: Shayla; one brother: Rev. Ernest Locklear.
Mr. Locklear was a member of Piney Grove Holiness Church and served the Lord by serving his fellow man. He had a passion for all people, especially his native family and friends. He was also a councilman of the Lumbee Tribal Counsel. He served the served the community as a member of the Hoke County Native American Association. The education for Native American Youth was his passion. He was recognized in the Antioch Community for picking up the youth for numerous church events. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, traveling, and politics (a proud democrat).
He is survived by four children: Tasha Knight of Lumberton, Kalina Locklear and husband Tony of Red Springs, Kalita Hayes and husband Bryan of Lumberton and Richard Locklear Jr. and wife Misty of Wagram; five siblings: Cray Locklear, Malcolm Locklear and Wanda Locklear all of Red Springs, Sandra Pollard and James Jr. Locklear both of Shannon; six grandchildren: Brandon, Chelsea, Jaylen, Kylen, Kaniah & Kenston. Nine great-grandchildren as well as a host of relatives and friends.
A special thanks to his life ling childhood friend Walter Jones, Phil Johnson and his Kelly Springfield Boys.
Funeral Service will be 3:30 PM Saturday, at Piney Grove Holiness Church. Burial will follow in the Dundarrach Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Boles Funeral Home in Red Springs.
Service has been entrusted to Boles Funeral Home in Red Springs.
