Richard Lowes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cavanagh Family Funeral Homes, Inc. & Private Crematory - Norwood on Dec. 31, 2025.
Richard A. Lowes passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, in Marmora, New Jersey, at the age of 80.
He was born on March 17, 1945, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Robert and Natalie Lowes. His family later settled in Havertown, Pennsylvania, where he graduated from Haverford High School in 1963.
Richard continued his education at Wesley College in Dover, Delaware, where he graduated in 1965, and later at Pennsylvania Military College (now Widener University), earning a degree in Business in 1968. He began his career in the banking industry before later transitioning into sales.
He was predeceased by the love of his life, Dawn (Hartman), whom he met while attending Wesley College. They shared a love of music and often sang and played guitar together while in college - the beginning of a lifelong harmony that carried them through 39 years of marriage. Their life together was filled with love, laughter, and devotion to family.
Richard and Dawn made their home in Wallingford, Pennsylvania, where they were members of Wallingford Presbyterian Church and enjoyed home DIY projects, road trips in their pop-up camper, hosting wonderful gatherings and parties for family and friends, and time spent with those they loved. They especially cherished summers at their beloved shore home in Bayberry Cove, Marmora, New Jersey, where they built lasting friendships with neighbors who became an extended family, and created many of their happiest memories.
He is survived by his daughters, Carolynn Utz (Michael) of Downingtown, PA, and Susan Lowes (William Canizzaro) of Marmora, NJ, as well as his three grandchildren, Madison Utz, Kaitlyn Utz, and Ryan Utz.
Family and friends are invited to attend Richard's graveside service Saturday January 10 2026 at 11 am at Arlington Cemetery, 2900 State Road, Drexel Hill PA, 19026. Richard's family asks that attendees meet at the cemetery office.
