Richard Loyal Dick Sheldon

Richard Loyal "Dick" Sheldon, 81, of Randolph, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at UPMC Chautauqua Hospital with his family at his side.
Dick was born April 6, 1944 in Jamestown, the son of the late Loyal E. and Priscilla L. (Darling) Sheldon. He attended Conewango Rural School and Randolph Central School.
Mr. Sheldon was a longtime Dairy Farmer in Randolph for 35 plus years and later had worked for Bush Industries in Jamestown, where he was a forklift operator, retiring in 2006. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. In his younger days, he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife; Cynthia V. (Booth) Sheldon, whom he married on November 7, 1970 in Cherry Creek, NY, a son, Michael (Rachel) Sheldon of Forestville, four grandchildren and their families; Steven and Ashley Sheldon of Jamestown, Timothy, Ashleigh and Emersyn Sheldon of Randolph, Riley, Natasha, Weston and Olivia Sheldon of Chambersburg, Pa., and Dylan, Christine and Wallace Sheldon of Mobile, AL, step-grandchildren and families, Tyler and Hannah Wright of Irving, NY, Skyler, Amanda, Peyton and Andrew Wright of Frewsburg, a sister; Barbara L. Sheldon of Jamestown and a brother; James H. Sheldon of Randolph.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Loyal and Priscilla and a son, Kevin L. Sheldon on February 18, 2025.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the VanRensselaer and Son Funeral Home, 14 Church Street, Randolph. Services will follow at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Jonathan Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in the Rutledge Cemetery, Seager Hill Road, Town of Conewango, NY.
