Richard "Dick" Maenner, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on October 10, 2024, in Woodridge, Illinois. Born on June 14, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Richard's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and family.
Richard's journey through life was shared with his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara (Rumsavich) Maenner. Together, they built a legacy of love and commitment that was evident in every aspect of their lives. Their family grew to include their loving daughters, Jennifer (Michael) Jernigan, Alison (Alan) Humbird, and Courtney (Christopher) Kornsey. Richard took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to Kevin (Crystal) Jernigan, Ryan and Nathan Jernigan, Brayden, Brielle and Brynn Humbird, Benjamin, Isaac and Jaxon Kornsey. His joy multiplied with the arrival of his great-grandchildren, Noa, Nevaeh, Nolan, Nixon, Novalee, and Nash Jernigan, each of whom brought a sparkle to his eye and a smile to his face.
For 40 years, Richard dedicated his professional life to Walker Manufacturing, His work ethic, integrity, and commitment to excellence left a lasting impact on the company and his colleagues.
Richard's interests were a reflection of his character-simple, yet deeply rooted in the American spirit. He was an avid football fan, relishing the thrill of the game and the camaraderie it brought, a diehard Chicago Bears fan. His love for reading historical and World War 2 novels demonstrated his love of the USA, while his passion for western movies spoke to his appreciation for the tales of heroism and adventure. Above all, Richard's greatest joy was found in supporting his grandkids, whether it was cheering from the sidelines, celebrating their achievements, or simply being present in their lives.
His memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the love he gave so freely.
