Lifelong Lasselsville resident Richard C. Manchester, 89, passed away at his home on Sunday, April 6, 2025, surrounded by his family.
He was born on July 9, 1935, in Gloversville to the late Azubah (Crannell) and Oscar Guy Manchester Sr. He attended Oppenheim School District and afterwards began working various jobs in mills and construction. He was married to his wife Barbara (Getman) Manchester on May 28, 1955. They shared over 60 years together until her passing on August 15, 2020.
Richard enjoyed going to local diners, people watching from his front lawn, and he especially loved to watch his grandchildren race. During the winter, he took pleasure in going to Florida.
Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife Barbara Manchester; son Richard Manchester Jr.; parents Azubah and Oscar Manchester Sr.; brothers Oscar Jr., Robert, Jim, Roger, and Dan Manchester; and sister Jeannette Alkinburgh.
He is survived by his son David (Sandy) Manchester; brother Ralph (Barbara) Manchester; grandchildren David (Natasha Cardamone) Manchester Jr. and Amanda Manchester; great-grandchildren Christopher Manchester, Nova Dygert, and Willard Dygert Jr.; step great-grandchildren Kyle Lawyer, Trenton Lawyer, and Abigail Lawyer; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Richard's arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. A private interment at Ephratah Rural Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ephratah Rural Cemetery, NY-67, Ephratah, NY 13452.
