Richard E. McCauley, 90, passed away on May 5, 2023 at his home in Chambersburg. He was born March 28, 1933 in West Reading, PA, the son of the late Carrie and Luther McCauley of Sinking Spring, PA.
Richard graduated from Sinking Spring High School in 1951 and took various courses through Penn State Continuing Education and other independent study programs. He also studied for a year at Lancaster Bible College.
Throughout his lifetime he served in various work positions in the Lancaster County area where he lived. After his marriage to Gloria Kelly in 1991, he moved to Chambersburg and finished his work career with Ingersoll Rand//Volvo in Shippensburg. In his retirement, he delivered cars for Fitzgerald Toyota, where he greatly enjoyed the companionship of his fellow drivers.
He attended Mission Hill Church (formerly Chambersburg Brethren in Christ Church) and Trinity Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria, daughter Linda McCauley, and son Michael McCauley; step-children Kevin (Ayano) Kelly, Ronald Kelly, Randi Kelly, Patrick (Patricia) Kelly, and Christopher Kelly; grandchildren Shane McCauley, Shannon (Seth) Zimmerman, Joshua (Bryanna) Kelly, Cheryl Kelly, and Justin (Kassandra) Kelly; and great-grandchildren Riley McCauley, Avery and Brody Zimmerman, Blake Hitchens, and Sloan and Crew Kelly. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, May 18, at 11:00 A.M. at Mission Hill Church, 465 Center St, Chambersburg, with the Rev. Kevin Witter officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour before the service, and a luncheon for all will be held immediately afterward. www.agettlakjer.com
