Richard Method Obituary

Richard 'Dick' Method
Richard 'Dick' Method, 92, of Midland, (formerly of Merrill, and Beaverton) passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, at Primrose Assisted Living in Midland. Dick was born on April 30, 1932 in Alma, and was raised by his grandparents, Richard and Clara (Shannon) Method, on a farm one mile south of Merrill, MI.
Dick graduated from Merrill Sacred Heart School in 1950. He worked for Wolohan Elevator in Merrill for seven years. In 1963, he became a Bean Inspector for the Michigan Bean Shippers Association (MBSA), and then was promoted to Chief Bean Inspector where he worked for 30 years retiring in 1993. His job took him all across Michigan, many other States, as well as other countries.
Dick was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the 89th Tank Battalion where he was a tank commander and sergeant first class from 1952-1954. Upon returning home, he married the love of his life, Jean Stroiwas, on November 6, 1954 at St. Patrick Church (Ryan) and they spent 70 wonderful and loving years together. Dick and Jean met at the Scotch Picnic during the Labor Day Festival in Nelson, MI in 1950. They traveled the world and went RV camping for 48 years together. They have been to all 50 states and most of Canada plus many other adventures including Poland, Hawaii, Alaska, and many European Countries. They also spent 22 years wintering in Hudson, FL.
Dick loved the outdoors – playing softball in the backyard with his three daughters ('get your nose under it'), fishing, snowmobiling, hunting, golfing – and he also truly loved the many years he played softball and baseball at Wenzel Park. In 1974, he was part of the Schwind and Kalahar bowling team where they won the State Championship!
In addition to his wife, Dick is also survived by his daughters, Diane (Dewayne) Belcher and Ellen Grzegorczyk. His grandchildren, Nathan (Jessica) Belcher, Thomas (Kristen) Belcher, Anna (Michael) Fazio and Ryan (Nicole) Golombisky. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren, Addison and Katie Mae Belcher, August and Marigold Belcher, Layla, Hadley and Weston Fazio, and Austin, Ensley, and a new great-grandson (due in May) Golombisky.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Richard and Clara Method; daughter, Sheila Method; son-in-law, Steven Grzegorczyk; as well as many other relatives.
Funeral services for Dick will take place 10 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2025 from the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler Street Midland, MI.
