Richard C. Mooney, of Schaumburg, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at the age of 80. He was born on December 1, 1939, in Albany, OR to the late Claude and Gladys (nee Madden) Mooney.
Richard was a proud veteran of the United States Army and retired from the United States Air Force after completing over 40 years of service. He is celebrated in his passion for traveling, gardening and in his patriotism.
Richard will be deeply missed by his loving daughter, Carol (Paul) Butera; grandsons, Bronx and Brayden Butera; sister, Helen (Everett) Griffin; cousin, Anita Thompson, along with many adoring cousins; best friend since childhood, Bill (Dee) Carrow; and is now at rest with his beloved brother, United States Marine, Cpl. Gordon Wayne Mooney, and sister, Lyvonne (nee Mooney) Hall.
On Wednesday, January 22, Visitation will be held from 9:00am until the time of his Funeral Service at 11:00am at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Rd.), Barrington, IL 60010. Interment with Military Honors to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 610 South Dundee Ave., Barrington, IL 60010.
