Richard John Mosson

Richard Mosson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away
peacefully at the age of 83 on Saturday, February 8, 2025. Born in Jackson, Michigan, on
February 16, 1941, Richard lived a life filled with love, laughter, and deep connections with his
family and friends.
He was married to his devoted wife, Ruth Mosson, for 64 years, Together, they raised four
children: Lisa (Andy) Nichols, Chris (Sue) Mosson, Dr. Sharon Horton, and Kurt (Dori) Mosson.
Richard's love extended to his12 grandchildren: Chloe, Jesse, Darby, Lily, Nicholas, Luke,
Danielle, Hayley, Jack, Lacey, and Darian, as well as his 4 great-grandchildren: Reese, Gio, Emmett and Finn, all of whom brought him boundless joy. He was preceded in death by his
granddaughter, Mary Nichols.
The Mosson family moved to Winfield, Illinois, in 1974, when Richard accepted a position as
Vice President of Manufacturing at World Dryer Corporation. Later, Richard ventured into
entrepreneurship and founded RJ & R.
Richard loved family gatherings, where laughter and togetherness were always at the heart of the celebration, especially his wonderful story telling. Richard found peace and happiness in the great outdoors, whether fishing, hunting, or spending a day on the golf course where he was a club champion. His passion for the game of golf was evident as he often volunteered his time to tutor anyone who asked.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many extended
family and friends. Richard will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the stories, traditions, and love he leaves behind.
A service to honor his life will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 15, at St. John the Baptist
Church in Winfield, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the
