Richard Murphy

Richard "Rick" Lee Murphy, born on June 18, 1960, in Wichita, Kansas, passed away on November 24, 2024, in Millersburg, Missouri.
He was the beloved son of Betty Sullins (Peeler) and the late Charles Murphy.
Rick graduated from Hickman High School in Columbia, Missouri, and went on to become a skilled welder and fabricator at AZZ/Avail Switchgear Systems in Fulton, Missouri. He was an active member of the Millersburg Lions Club, where he enjoyed cooking for their fish fries and participating in Turkey Shoot competitions. An avid outdoorsman, Rick found joy in fishing, hunting, and trapping. He cherished his life in the woods, living on a piece of land with his own pond, adjacent to the Mark Twain National Forest.
Rick is survived by his brother Ron Murphy and his wife Jennifer, his sister Renee Velderman and her husband John, four cherished nieces-Melanie, Rachel, Laura, and Sara-and a grandnephew, Dalton.
He was predeceased by his brother Eugene. Rick also shared a close bond with many cousins, aunts and uncles.
Rick's love for his family was profound, and he took great pride in his nieces. He was also a talented singer, often delighting family and friends at Karaoke parties.
A service to honor Rick's life will be held at Rocheport Christian Church, 302 2nd St., Rocheport, Missouri, at 1 p.m. on December 14th, followed by a reception with light refreshments at the church annex.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Millersburg Lions Club.
