Richard Davis "Dick" Phillips, age 72, of Nixa, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022. He was born October 29, 1949 in Springfield, the son of Richard and Henrietta Phillips. Dick was a graduate of Clever High School and Drury University.
From 1967 until retirement in 2007 Dick served in the Army National Guard. He was a helicopter mechanic, pilot, and instructor. While on active duty he was stationed in Iraq. Dick was a Springfield Policeman from 1975 until 1985. In 1985 he became an EMS helicopter pilot. He was also a navigation instructor working with Air Evac.
In 1983 he married Paulette. She survives as well as a son, Brett Phillips and wife Liz of Portland, Oregon; Brett's children, Bella and Gabi; and a stepson, Ryan Edwards.
Visitation will be from 3:00 – 5:00 PM Thursday, September 15, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Dick will be honored with a military graveside funeral 11:00 AM Friday, September 16, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
