We are sad to announce the passing of Richard A. Quadrini, Sr. who died Thursday, December 8th at his home with his family at his side. Born in Rochester, New York, as the fourth of six children to his parents Pierina and Attilio Quadrini who immigrated from Italy in 1931.
Richard married Genevieve (Scarlata) on May 11, 1968 in Rochester, NY. In faith they raised two children and were blessed with 3 grandchildren. He loved being a father, an uncle, a granddad and a friend to everyone he met. Over the years he was an active member in the catholic church serving as an altar boy, a lector, a CCD teacher and a member of The Knights of Columbus. Richard will be remembered for his infectious smile and beautiful spirit that touched everyone he met. He was an avid reader and writer. Often blessing even strangers with kind poems, words of wisdom and strength. He was a cherished member of his Ashton Grove Community telling stories at events, blessing friends with jokes and offering kind gestures. He wrote articles in the South Charlotte Weekly and published his own short work called Stuff of Life. His works were always meant to make you pause, laugh and ponder. For decades during Christmas, Richard slipped into his Santa suit and brought joy and hope to many hundreds of children and individuals.
In 1959, Richard graduated high school from The Aquinas Institute of Rochester. He attended Saint John Fisher University receiving a Bachelor of Art in Business Administration. He continued his studies at Rochester Institute of Technology obtaining an MBA. He was an active member of Toastmasters for many years honing his storytelling craft. He was a successful corporate credit manager for over 20 years in Rochester until his family moved to Charlotte in 2003 and started his own business as a carpenter/handyman.
His parents, his brothers, Art and David and his niece Carolyn preceded him in death. His wife Genevieve survives him along with his children: Richard Quadrini and Laura (Todd) VanDenBerg; three grandchildren: Ella and Michael (Laura) VanDenBerg, Lauren (Richard) Quadrini; sister Mary DeCiantis, sister-in-law Rosemary Quadrini and sister-in-law Pat Quadrini.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Eulogy at 10:45 am, on December 20, 2022 at Saint Matthews Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Parkway, Charlotte NC 28277

Sweetest man and he loved the Lord. One of my sweetest memories was sitting with Jenny and Richard in their home and talking about our love for the Lord when I was going through a difficult time in my life. Also, Richard would stop by when walking Cookie and ask me how I was doing and tell me a story or a joke- always cheering up my day. He was the light and laughter in the neighborhood and did this for many of us. We will miss his folk telling, contagious smile and oh his humor! See you in heaven Richard. Love and hugs to you Jenny! He so loved you very much!

I will truly miss my Richard and Cookies daily visits to our home and all the poems, stories, jokes and cards he shared with our family. What a great friend and neighbor who always shared his humor and kindness and always made us laugh. We miss him!

I graduated from Aquinas with Dick in 1959. I renewed our friendship just before he and his family moved to Charlotte. In my opinion, the obituary says it all: Dick was the epitome of an Aquinas graduate and I'm proud to have known him. My sympathies to his family.

RIP
I remember Richard at HS at Aquinas where we were friends and saw him at a few early reunions. Also, would see him while he was auditing at banks in Rochester. He was a gentleman and always low key. Condolences to family.
