RALEIGH, Richard E. - Age 90, of Fenton, passed away June 4, 2024. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11AM Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM Monday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton with a Vigil and Knights of Columbus service beginning at 7PM. Visitation will also be held from 10AM until the time of Mass Tuesday at church. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church or Knights of Columbus. Richard was born November 28, 1933 in Ashland, IL one of seven children born to William and Idella (Newton) Raleigh. He was a 1952 graduate of Fenton High School and married Beth Ann Austin in July 1953. Richard attended GMI (Kettering) for two years and became a Tool & Die Employee at General Motors. From 1956 until 1980 he was a foreman at two shops in Fenton; Universal Machine and Excell Corporation. He then went back to General Motors, retiring in 1996. Dick was very active at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church including choir, funeral luncheons, Applefest and laying tile at the church and rectory in the 80's. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus, working on all of their projects. He is survived by his wife, Beth; children, Michael (Marcia), Deborah Warden and Kenneth (Laurie);  12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; three siblings, Dorothy Raleigh, Doris Hogan and Jim Raleigh. He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis and three siblings. The family wishes to thank Dr. Chou and the nurses on the 2nd and 3rd Floor at Trinity Hospital in Howell for the wonderful care they provided. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
