Richard A. Rayburn, age 89 of Moundsville, WV died Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at home.
He was born November 7, 1933, the son of the late Hugh and Lillian Marie Kitchen Rayburn, and was raised in Chicago, IL.
He graduated in 1957 from Loyola University, Chicago with his Bachelor's Degree in Finance and Accounting, where he was commissioned as an officer in the Army and was put on two years active duty and five years active Federal Reserve.
After actively working in accounting and finance, he was eventually led to Fostoria Glass and worked for eighteen years as Accounting Supervisor and Controller.
Richard then relocated to Charleston, SC and worked for five years for the Charleston News & Register as a District Manager. He returned to Moundsville in 1989 and worked part time until his retirement.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a twin brother, Hugh Rayburn.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Barbara Rayburn; three children, Jennifer Swain, Amy Walker and Richard Rayburn; three step-children, Carla (Russ) Zesiger, Linda Taylor, and Darrell Lancaster; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-7pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville where funeral services will be held Friday at 10am with Pastor Mike Shank officiating and the Moundsville Honor Guard conducting Military Services.
Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville.
