Rich was one of a kind! You were one of my first customers with RPS/ FedEx when I was new to the company way back in 1998. One of my first customers that I was fortunate enough to turn into a lifelong friend. Rich was always willing to teach and "debate" and have a great laugh with, we had so much fun! So many lunches at Zoe's Pan Asian Cafe in the CWE and probably more than enough drinks after work!
Rich didn't have a college degree but through hard work and knowledge he learned the skills to be promoted throughout his career, it started with CPI Corp but the sky was the limit for him. He was always willing to work harder than he needed too and not afraid to take on any challenge. We even worked together when he worked at JS Logistics and I had Build A Bear and by then I think he was a VP or a Director at least. He taught people the skills in logistics and supply chain to go and make a career for themselves.
Rich could be prickly around the edges but if you knew him, you knew it was all a façade to protect a part of him that was vulnerable. He adored his wife Sandy and up to the end was completely focused on easing this transition for her. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren.
I'm sorry that our paths diverted over the last years but I will forever be thankful that he was my friend... Love you man...
