Richard Louis Robida, 84, of Sterling Heights, Michigan passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones. We know he is enjoying a heavenly reunion with our mom Beverly, his wife of 63 years who passed away in 2018.
Richard was born on August 25th, 1939 in New Hampshire "on a hot summer day", as he liked to joke. After moving to Michigan with his mother and father and his brother Jerry, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Air Force and returned back to Michigan. Shortly thereafter, his best friend Jerry Schick who was dating a girl by the name of Sue, who also had a best friend and her name was Beverly. They were set up on a blind date and it only took 3 months before he knew she was "The One" and they were married soon after. He was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints later that same year. Their happy home soon included five children. They spent many summers canoeing and camping across the United States, telling jokes and making up silly songs along the way. He was a very hardworking and devoted father and husband.
His greatest attribute was his creativity, which allowed him many successes in his life. He was very talented, especially with auto body painting and restoration which he thoroughly enjoyed and took great pride in.
His passion for the outdoors inspired him to give back to his community by serving in The Boy Scouts of America as a Cub and Boy Scout Master for over 36 years. An outdoorsman at heart, golfing was also a pastime favorite. The many golfing, camping, canoe and other trips with his creative imagination, his ability to teach and tell stories inspired his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to carry on his traditions. His stories and jokes will be told around tables and camp fires for many generations to come.
He is survived by his brother, Gerald Robida, his sister, Claire Connolly, his children, Rena Robida, Richard T. Robida, Elaine Jeffords, Eric Robida and Samuel Robida, his grandchildren, Stephen Dana, Christina Dana, Andrew Dana (Paige Dana), Taylor Robida (Elaina Robida), Aimee Robida, Jennifer Hammer (Aaron Hammer), Justin Jeffords, Jaden Jeffords, Samson Robida, Great grandchildren, Daisy Dana, Trenton O'Grady, Madison Celis, Riley Dana, Thomas Dana, Kaydence Hammer, Caleb Hammer, Mackenzie Hammer and Owen Jeffords.
He is preceded in death by his wife Beverly Ann Robida (Taylor), mother, Jannette LaBrie (Robida), father Gregory Kalariotes, his sister, Jackie Bilodeau, and grandson, Ryan Lee Ciesliga.
