Richard S. Satterlee, 60 of Alba, passed away at home after a brief illness on January 17, 2025. He was born January 26, 1964 in Ionia, the son of Richard and Beverly (Moore) Satterlee.
Rich graduated from Central Michigan University with his Bachelor’s degree. As a lifelong learner, he also earned his Master’s degree and was currently working on his Doctorate degree. As a teacher and administrator he shared his love of learning with the many students and staff that he taught and coached throughout the state in several districts, including Houghton Lake, Alba, Ionia, Pittsford, and Hastings.
His priority in life was spending time with his family. Rich enjoyed hunting, playing golf and fishing the Gulf of Mexico. He was also a huge U of M fan.
On Aug. 15, 1986 in Portland, Michigan he married Bethany (Whelan) Satterlee who survives. Also surviving are his children Noah (Kassandra Pruden) Satterlee of Hastings, Madison (Josh) Satterlee of Alba, father Richard (Madeline) Satterlee of Fenwick, sister Deb (Dan) Wandel of Ionia, many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Beverly Satterlee.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 25th at 1 p.m. at the Alba High School Gymnasium with the family receiving friends from 12 Noon until the time of service.
Memorial contributions can be given to the Alba Public Schools or the Star Township Fire Department.
