Denise Cathleen Spehar, 75, passed away surrounded by family and very dear friends, in her peaceful home in Mancelona on Nov. 11, 2025.
Born on November 2, 1950 to Isabelle (Ferguson) and Dell Collins, in Detroit, Denise graduated in 1968 from Stevenson High School in Livonia. In 1980, Denise moved to Mancelona, where she built her own home. Working with the developmentally disabled community for the span of four decades, she was a very loyal caregiver and friend, meeting new friends along the way.
Denise is survived by her accomplice, partner in crime of over fifty years, as well as partner in life, Sharon Tinney; daughters Theresa Spehar, Jen (Scott) Starks, Sister Nancy (Dave) Seniuch; Grandchildren Brandon, Corina (Brendon), Autumn, Austin and Gabriel; Great grandchildren Kaidon, Charlotte and Miles; Nephew Taras; Niece Kristina; Cousin Patricia Adams. Denise is also survived by very dear family friends Daniel Tinney, Joann (Steve), Michelle and Danny (Anna).
She kept everyone laughing, whether it be working around the house and yard, co-workers, her very, very dear circle of friends, family or even strangers. Denise could find humor in just about any situation, and a solution for almost any problem. She was hard working, dependable, and driven (Some may say stubborn!). Milling around the house, traveling to the U.P., gathering with "The Gang" (you know who you are!), and watching her family grow around her were some of her favorite activities.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
Arrangements are in the care of the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
